Keppeler conducts Wenner-Gren-funded excavations at Kandingan Cave, Mindanao
From October 2024 to January 2025, James Keppeler led Wenner-Gren–funded excavations at Kandingan Cave in Mindanao, Philippines, for the “Unearthing Mindanao” project.
From October 2024 through January 2025, HEVA member James Keppeler carried out Wenner-Gren-funded archaeological excavations at the Kandingan Cave Limestone Area (Placer, Surigao del Norte) in Mindanao, Philippines, as part of the project “Unearthing Mindanao”, funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation's Dissertation Fieldwork Grant. The season built on earlier surface survey and pilot test excavations in the region funded by UKinSPIRE, advancing research into Mindanao’s role in early Philippine agriculture.
