Maggie Qiu joined the HEVA Lab as a student at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, conducting research with Dr. Hugo Reyes-Centeno — and with guidance from Dr. Amber Plemons and Leah Böttger — on methods for segmenting 3D CT images of human crania. Her project, “Examining the Accuracy of Various Methods of Segmentation for 3D Images of Crania,” won first place in the Systems Software category at the 2024 Central Kentucky Regional Science & Engineering Fair. She is now an undergraduate at the University of Kentucky.
